Things to do in New York in February. Learn everything you need to know in this brand new guide from SharedEasy.

February in New York is full of things to do, shows to see and places to visit. It is a great time to go to take in a parade, shoot off fireworks, enjoy the theater, dance in the streets, cheer on your favorite football team and celebrate Valentine’s Day with a romantic evening in the City.

February 2: It’s a big month for football fans! February is the month of the Super Bowl, one of the most anticipated and celebrated sports events in the U.S. This year is even more special as it’s the NFL’s 100th season, and the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers have the privilege of fighting for the trophy and the title in a heavyweight matchup that does not expect to disappoint. The 54th Super Bowl and the 50th modern-era National Football League championship game will decide the champion for the NFL’s 2019 and 100th season. This is the first Super Bowl appearance for the Chiefs in 50 years. Super Bowl LIV will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

SharesEasy’s big-screen TV room in Bernard House and the cozy living spaces in our other homes are the perfect place to gather your friends to watch the game! and whether you’re a football fan or not, a Super Bowl Party is always a good idea! Equally as important and anticipated to the football game is the half-time show. This year’s headliner is Jennifer Lopez. Super Bowl LIV is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. ET kickoff and will be broadcast on FOX. Get your friends together and enjoy this tradition of watching the big game, enjoying the half time performance and then, of course, there are the commercials. There are always talks on which one was the most original. If you’ve never experienced a Super Bowl Sunday in America. Now it is your chance! We’ll be watching in our homes.

January 21-Feb. 9th: NYC has something for everyone. The shopaholics get their “fix” on Black Friday and all throughout the holidays, the foodies get Restaurant Week, the fashionistas have Fashion Week. For the theater lovers, there’s Broadway Week, that lovely time of the year right after Christmas when Broadway tickets are 2 for 1. Nearly every show on Broadway participates in Broadway Week. Since tickets are 2 for 1, it’s the perfect time to invite a friend, get to know your housemates, take in a play on Broadway. Check out the list for some favorites:

nuary 25-February 9: Happy Lunar New Year. The festivities for the Chinese New Year  (aka Lunar New Year) kicked off this past weekend on January 25th and continue through the month of February ending in a parade through the streets of Chinatown and NYC on February 9th. The parade kicks off at 1 pm and the party lasts until 4:30 pm. SharedEasy will be taking a group from our homes to enjoy dragon dancing, dancing in the streets, martial arts and fireworks as the parade kicks off at Mott and Canal and winds around past Sara Roosevelt Park to Grand Street. Don’t forget to taste some of the delicious food in NYC Chinatown and check out events happening there all week long.

February 10-23: One of the most anticipated events of the year happens bi-annually in NYC! Or NYC Off-Broadway Week offers 2-for-1 tickets to the plays, musicals and more that define this amazing New York experience. Although its name indicates the event runs just a week, it actually goes for almost two weeks. Tickets went on sale Monday, Jan 27th for the  February 10th to February 23rd Off-Broadway Week for cult faves and off-broadway hits showing in theaters all over the City. Some of this years’ productions include:

  • The Blue Man Group
  • Drunk Shakespeare
  • Jersey Boys
  • A Musical About Star Wars
  • The Play That Goes Wrong
  • The Gazillion Bubble Show
  • Rock of Ages

The 2 for 1 offer means you basically get guaranteed 50% off regular ticket prices, starting as low as $27.

February 14th: This is the month for sweethearts: February 14th is Valentine’s Day what better place to celebrate than New York? For all of the solo Valentines out there we’ll be gathering for dinner and photos in the City. Did you know that there is an entire statue dedicated to Love in New York? You can easily find it at W 55th St & 6th Ave, next to Prêt A Manger and across from Bank of America. And it’s a Day to make your best pic there!

February 17th: Presidents’ Day honors all former and current presidents of the United States. Every third Monday in February Presidents’ Day is celebrated throughout the nation. The reason for the date is that it falls around the birthday of the first president of America, George Washington. Nowadays we celebrate all former Presidents. Do you want a picture with one of the presidents? Get your best picture taken with Presidents Obama, Lincoln, and Washington, etc. at Madame Tussauds Museum.

February 28th – 29th: Wrap up Winter with the last skate on the ice at only free icer ink at Bryant Park or best-view ice rink at the Pier 17 in Downtown Manhattan.
