SharedEasy Member Stories: Eric Borsuk – Novelist and NY Native

SharedEasy Member's Stories: Meet Eric Borsuk, our in-house novelist, memoirist, and journalist.

Meet Eric Borsuk, our in-house novelist, memoirist, and journalist. Eric’s memoir, American Animals, was released in March of this year and it was met with resounding success. Eric has lived all over the U.S. – Kentucky, Philly, North Carolina, California – but he finds himself back in his home state: “the writing capital of the world.”

Eric lives in our New York Friends Home in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn. In our recent member interview with Eric (catch that on our YouTube Channel) we asked Eric why he chose SharedEasy? “I found myself back home in NYC after many travels and I had heard about coliving. After searching on the internet for a coliving place in NYC, I found SharedEasy. It was exactly what I was looking for: flexible, convenient, and affordable.”

Eric has found much inspiration in the SharedEasy community with people from all over the world living and working, pursuing their passions, enjoying the hustle and bustle of the “City that Never Sleeps.” Many of the people in our coliving community are aspiring artists and creatives, so there are a creative spark and collaboration which serves as a great creative backdrop for writing his next book. Besides the flexibility and affordability, “it’s the easy experience that makes it great. Everything is provided, no surprise bills, easy sign-up, and the cleanliness, furnishings, and just overall  feeling of home.”

“If someone asked me about my experience with SharedEasy, I would definitely recommend it! It’s been and continues to be a great experience.”

We congratulate Eric on the success of his book – American Animals. You can catch the movie co-starring Evan Peters (of X-Men fame) and a star-studded cast (including Eric himself) on HBO, HULU, Amazon Prime Video, and more streaming channels.

Eric has also made an impact as he serves his community and champions causes near and dear to his heart. He serves on the board of the Die Jim Crow Project, the first New York produced record label in the U.S. for incarcerated musicians. He has also written for The Marshall Project – a prestigious and important role. Eric is a perfect example of a creative who is tapping into the energy that New York City, even among the Pandemic, affords. It’s a creative hub for writers, no doubt.

We are honored to have Eric with us and we are excited to have a role in creating an inspiring environment where he can live and work. Best of luck with your next novel! We’ll be awaiting its release!
