Member’s Stories: Interview With Aaron, Esports Gaming Editor

Meet Aaron aka “Don”, our in-house Gaming Guru and gaming editor for One37pm, (a subsidiary of Vayner Sports, a part of the Gary Vaynerchuk Empire.) Spend just a few minutes with Aaron and you can pick up on the “Gary Vee” ingo the grit, and Aaron’s “love for the “game”, both in his work and in his life.

Aaron hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and while his goal was just to visit New York, the opportunity to live in New York presented itself and he took it – willingly and with enthusiasm. In fact, he landed one of the coveted roles on the One37pm team, whose tagline is “Own your Future, Start this Minute”, which Aaron seems to have taken to heart in his ambitions and his outlook on life. We asked him, why New York? His response, “I like the struggle. When you know you’re kind of underrated and will have to push the limits of yourself, that’s when you are better, that’s what I was looking for”. Obviously, Aaron has found his home. That’s about as New York a sentiment as you can get.

Aaron lives in the SharedEasy Greenpoint, Brooklyn Home in the hip, up-and-coming neighborhood of Greenpoint on a typical Brooklyn street with brownstones and walk-ups. Aaron has loved the home and loves living with a variety of people. For months, and all through this lockdown time, he’s roomed with people from Russia (he’s mastered one word in Russian “Da” which is a good start), a professor of economics, and a coder who is trying to transition into biophysics. “I learn something new every day. That knowledge of other folks becomes a huge asset in the future when you are having conversations with others. Coliving is the best way to get that”. Also, Aaron points out that coliving teaches empathy – empathy for others who might not be on the same schedule as you or who might have different living habits. “You just never know what someone is going through”, Aaron points out. But learning to understand those differences teach you to appreciate other people and to have empathy and patience, and both of those are definite character traits that are good to build.

Aaron likes the spaciousness of his private room at the Greenpoint Home and really likes not having to pay “$3000 for a box”, which is the norm for a private room rental in New York. With SharedEasy, everything is included. Modern furnishings, stocked kitchen, free wifi, premium TV, laundry on-site and coworking space are all part of the all-inclusive price. Because the home is smaller in terms of the number of residents, there is a closeness about the community. Since Aaron works from home, pretty much 24/7, it is a big advantage that the space of his private room accommodates his need to be able to spread out with his equipment and set up his “gaming empire”.

“New York is raw, authentic and unapologetic and that’s what I am looking for in terms of my character”. Like so many people we meet and talk to at SharedEasy, and in this instance with Aaron, the character of the person mirrors the City. New York gives you what you are looking for, what you are lacking, and what you need to stay inspired and energized.

In case you haven’t heard of Gary Vaynerchuck, he’s a New York City icon. Working for One37pm, a subsidiary of Vayner Sports, is one of the most coveted jobs in the industry and it puts Aaron on the cutting edge of all things New York and all things media and gaming. We are thrilled to have Aaron and his energy, his love for NYC, and his contribution to the Greenpoint Home and to the SharedEasy community. It’s always nice to have members who share the” love for the game” and for all that makes New York City the greatest city in the world. Catch the full interview with

  • What amenities are typically included in a co-living space in NYC?

Amenities typically available in coliving spaces include laundry, kitchen, swimming pools, workspaces, access to gyms and other health clubs, leisure areas, and spas. All the utilities and WiFi are included in the rental amount. Some spaces offer access to house cleaning services, and occasionally catered parties depending on the community. Coliving spaces catering to new parents may offer a playground for the children or access to vetted child care services.

Co-living sounds like an answer to everything you’ve ever asked about homes, neighborhoods, or life as digital nomads. • Is co-living a good idea?

Coliving can be a great choice for someone who wants to move to a big city, save big on a luxury apartment, and keep things simple. However, for someone who wants to live outside a major US city and doesn’t like the idea of sharing their space, it’s not a great choice.

It is also a great fit for those who want to belong to a company of like-minded people and build their social network. It can be very rewarding and enriching to belong to a community of people with the same interests. You get to learn, grow, and develop yourself. You can also build a great working relationship, and potentially snag yourself a mentor or a co-founder.

All the great companies were built by people in the same network! Coliving offers flexibility and helps foster friendships between strangers. Newcomers are sure to find themselves welcomed into the community with open arms.

Coliving is a great way to learn about the cultures of other people and appreciate diversity. Another attraction of coliving is the lifestyle. Coliving houses are situated in busy areas, so cafes, bars, and shopping are only a couple of minutes away from your house, which is great if long commutes are a chore for you. It is a plus for you if your coliving community is located in a place with excellent nightlife.

In terms of cost, coliving is firmly within the average price range for properties, being that you’re paying for both the house and the service rendered.

  • Does SharedEasy Have an App?

SharedEasy does not have an app at the moment, just an amazing website with ample information and details on each property. Important information includes the number of units, their availability, and the appliances contained in each unit, as well as a map of the place and a tour of the property. There’s something for everyone on the website.

  • Where Can I Find a Coliving Space?

There are coliving spaces all over the United States. SharedEasy offers coliving options in New York and Los Angeles. If you are interested in coliving spaces in New York City, SharedEasy has many destinations for you. There are spaces in East New York, Cobble Hill, Clinton Hill, Bushwick, Brooklyn Heights, Broadway, East Village, Inwood, Soho, Chelsea, Ridgewood, Hell’s Kitchen, Harlem, Midtown East, and Jersey City.

All these coliving apartments are furnished according to the standards, and there are pictures up on the website. Beware of websites that have listings without pictures. Most of those are scams, and in these cases, people pay a security deposit, only to lose it.
